Everyone is looking for ways to go green in today’s environmentally conscious society. We make sure to recycle, try to car pool on occasion, and even buy organic foods. But how many actually consider their choice in smartphone when trying to reduce their carbon footprint?
Very few would be my guess. And of those that actually consider it, very few probably think that any phone aside from those capable of doing a reverse phone look up through Anywho.com are actually green.
The truth of the matter is that many phones actually have a very large carbon footprint, especially smart phones. Older phones generally have an even larger one. The long charges needed and the emissions alone from these devices are huge energy wasters, and only add to our reliance on and greater need for energy.
There is one phone that is striving to reduce its footprint, and that phone is the Nokia 700.
The Nokia 700 may not have the best display on the market, but it is the smallest and greenest smart phone in the Nokia line – making it perfect for you or the “tree-hugger” in your family. In addition to being made from materials that are 100 percent recyclable, the phone is also free of brominated and chlorinated compounds as well as antimony trioxide and PVC.
New eco-lead devices are even constructed using biopaints, bioplastics, and other recyclables.
But just because the Nokia 700 is a green phone, doesn’t mean it lacks in power and function. It may be small, but it runs on the Symbian Belle OS, offers 7.3 hours of talk time on a single charge, and a ClearBlack AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass. It’s one tough little smart phone.
The phone is also great for media lovers offering a 5 MP camera with LED flash as well as a camcorder. With NFC built in, it is easy to share photos or hook up to the NFC Play 360 feature for awesome gaming.
So if you are on the market for a great smart phone, but are also interested in keeping the environment in mind, choose the Nokia 700. It’ll allow you to be green in more ways than one.
