How To: Check Credit and other Details in Nokia N900 with a Touch of a Widget

The Nokia N900 dont feature DTMF support i mean it dont permit to dial numbers start with “*”. But this is really needed in some Countries where the Credit check is easy by dialing those numbers ex : *123#. I have found a way todo so.Check  out the details….

Download all the needed files here


The Things you need for this Credit Check are

python-hildondesktop

hildon-desktop-python-loader

pexpect

ussd-pad

ussd-common

ussd Widget

Download all the needed files here

 

Then goto X-Terminal and Type

sudo gainroot

then

type cd MyDocs

place all the contents of downloaded zip file to root of N900 i.e N900/

then type

dpkg -i filename.deb

example:

dpkg -i python-hildon.deb

likewise install

python-hildondesktop
hildon-desktop-python-loader
pexpect
ussd-pad
ussd-common
ussd Widget

and then goto your desktop and add USSD widget for brief details have a look at the video below:

    welcome to the club. I started maemoing in 2008 with diablo (maemo4 ) on the N810. The N810 is an awesome device. But the N900 is 100 times better hence getting the N900 was a no brainer for me :) look forward to your tips :)

    Hi Siraj,

    Great work! I have successfully used this app. I think you may need to change the display for the USSD pad because over here in Malaysia with Maxis network, we send *100# then a menu is send back to us to choose the option. It work fine except that I can't see the whole menu. The first few lines will be cropped for the whole menu.

    Another thing, now about the widget. I send *100# to the operator, it does not show the menu in widget. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

    I just used my operator code for example :D You can use urs ;) :D You mean it does not bring back dtmf menu ? try the ussd pad bro

    man it won't install those things
    error processing hildon desktop (–install)
    dependency problems – leaving unconfigured ETC…
    Why is this ? i'm doing it like the video on youtube please help me man
    no matter what i try to install it says that :s

    You can just go to app manager, search for USSD & install from there.. More easier.. That is how I installed mine..

    You will need to enable extras-devel in app manager. Here is the instruction on how to enable it – http://maemocentral.com/2009/12/29/how-to-enabl…

    After you have enable extras-devel then you can search for ussd & install.

    Also you need to make sure ur N900 is version 3.2010.02-8. The install will only work in the latest firmware version.

    i've downloaded already and it's really cool, just have few query on setting-up.

    can someone explain me on some terms used on the prog. such as below:

    % would be replaced by reply
    %N with N'th regexp matching group
    & would be replaced with sms content
    &N with N'th sms regexp group
    invalidates special meaming of following symbol
    “and 'work as usual
    space delimits command line parameters of utility
    Hint: use echo “Your string%” to prepend your string to reply.

    sorry guys, sounds confusing to me.

    checking balance inquiry by #166* (KSA) is working, just want to know if how to automatic view the last call/sms used amount?

    plz use ussd widget and click configure and set time to refresh. And the number from which you can get data of credit.

    Sending request from x-terminal is not good as it seems

    I installed all the .deb files through x-terminal, but the ussd pad was unable to launch after installation. the ussd widgets dont wanna get added to my desktop..im sick and tired of this..pls can some one gimme a help? i'll really apprecte that thanx
