Hardware Review :
The moment you look at the E6. You can notice the glossy chrome running all-over the edges of the phone. It defines the E6 killer look. The Nokia E6 comes with a 2.46” LCD display with resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and 326ppi. The display is crispier than ever before. The colour and the brightness of the display is best we have seen in a E-Series. The gorilla glass adds a extra security to this gorgeous display by protecting it from scratches and drops.
Above the display we can find three sensors such as VGA camera,Proximity sensor and Ambient light detector. The ear piece looks cool as its covered by a piece of shiny chrome.
The display is so crisp and i felt that so many pixels are cramped in such a small screen makes the fonts appear to be tiny in some third party applications. P.S : There is a app called Font Magnifier with which you can increase the font upto 200%. Right below the screen comes the array of shortcut keys, D-pad and QWERTY keys.
The keys present below the display are call and end, home, calendar, contacts and email key. The LED in the middle of the D-pad acts as a breathing light for notifications. The breathing light is not that bright IMO. Below the shortcut keys you can find the best crafted QWERTY keys. I am stunned by the feel of the keys. They are soft and responsive. The feel the keys gives just motivates you to type more and more. The Spacebar is quite big compared to E72 .
The small opening in the lower end of the front panel marks the microphone. As all the Nokias there is no call drop/ Antennagate problems in this device in whateva way you hold it.
At the top of the phone we can spot the memory card slot.3.5 mm port and the power button.
Moving on the right hand side there are volume control buttons separated by the mute key . E6 comes with the special Slide To Unlock key as the latest Nokia Touch Screen devices. The Slide to Unlock also acts as the handy shortcut for the flash light. Holding the Slide To Unlock for a couple of seconds activates the torch.
On the left side is the USB slot closed with plastic flap Nail Alert!! . Well I not the fan of these closed USB slots i always prefer the open ones as in N8 and E7.
Lets explore the back side of the device. The camera design looks identical like C7. The Camera is the quite famous common EDOF cam which you can spot in most of the devices released after the N8. The Camera is supported by Dual LED flash for low light photography. Near the LED flash you can spot a stereo speaker. The design of the camera module and speaker module is perfect. The speaker doesn’t get muffled up that much as the N8 because of the little curvier design of the whole camera module. Its not slippery as the E7 because the camera module provides the grip at the backside of the phone.
Beneath the metal battery cover we can spot the famous BP-4L powerhouse which powers the E6. The BP-4L is a legendary battery which provides juice for 681 hours of standby and 15 hours of usage time.
The 2mm charger port can be found at the bottom of the phone. The Nokia E6 comes with 300MB phone memory and 8GB on-board which is quite large to hold your favourite albums and videos. The E6 comes with latest connectivity options like Wi-Fi,3G, The Nokia E6 also supports USB-OTG but no cables are provided with the package.
Here is the shot to showcase how the E6 keypad looks like in low light.
The Edof Camera is pretty good for long shots. Here are some sample images from the cam for your viewing pleasure. Click on the thumbnail to view original image.
