Nokia Lumia 610 is the cheaper version of the Nokia Lumia series of Windows Phone smartphones. So what’s make it so cheap and affordable than most Windows Phone smartphones ? How good the Windows phone OS runs in this trimmed down hardware ? Lets see in this review.
Nokia Lumia 610 comes in the new blue packaging which is same as the Lumia 800.
The package contains micro USB charger, USB charging / sync cable, WH-208 in ear headsets [Which looks same like the headsets which came bundled with 808] .
The packaging also includes user manuals and Nokia music guide which explains how to get started with Nokia Music.
Other than that the Lumia 610 also comes with a exciting 3G promo offer. Idea and Airtel customers can get 2GB of data for the first four months which is worth Rs.1800/- bundled with your phone.
Nokia sure knows how to keep the looks of the budget phone so premium. Nokia Lumia 610 is another example of one such thing. It is powered by Snapdragon S1 800 MHz processor and 256MB of RAM. The front of the Lumia 610 hosts a 3.7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800×480.
There is a nice metallic chrome running along the display which gives a rich look to the phone. Check out the below link for the display comparison between Lumia 800 and Lumia 610.
Below the display are the three capacitive buttons such as back, windows key and search button.
On the right side you have volume rocker, unlock key and camera button. On the left side there are no buttons.
At the top of the device you have a 3.5 mm jack, micro USB slot, and secondary mic for active noise cancellation.
At the back of the device you have the speaker grill at the bottom . These speakers actually sounds louder than Lumia 800. Above the speaker grill there is a 5MP camera with LED flash.
Backplate of the phone is made up of glossy plastic cover . And you guessed it right it just loves fingerprints :-S.
Inside the removable battery cover is the Micro SIM slot and 1300 mAh battery.
Good things first. Lumia 610 came out with Tango update which gives Internet tethering, flip to silence and camera extras app.
Another major thing with I like about the Lumia 610 is the new addition of Nokia Music Store. It gives you access to millions of songs. You can download DRM free songs right in 610 or in PC using Nokia Music player.
Instead of boring you with old Windows Phone stuff I would point out where 610 lacks or slows down . The video below might give you a better idea how fast is 610 when compared with the Lumia 800.
The core user experience between Lumia 610 is same as Lumia 800. There is no slowdown with the default apps. But the problems are with certain apps where you can see low FPS or slowdown of thirdparty apps. This is mainly due to the not so great internal hardware.
The main problem is the lack of RAM because of that some games and apps doesn’t work at all. Currently Angry Birds and Skype are the mainly ruled out apps for Lumia 610. But this condition may change when developers optimise the apps for this phone.
- Build Quality
- Affordable Windows Phone
- Smooth UI experience
- Battery backup
- Nokia Music Unlimited
- Lack of RAM
- Camera performance is not so great
How good is Lumia 610? Considering its price and core experience of Windows Phone I would certainly recommend to get one for you if you are moving from those slow feature phones. But if you want to make a switch from Symbian/Android this is not blazing fast, I would ask you to spend a little more and get 710 or 800 .
